Cathleen Wolf

Our principal, Cathleen Wolf, is an award-winning writer and communication strategist with over 40 years of experience in corporate and consulting roles. She provides writing and consulting services to a broad range of clients in employee communication. She specializes in benefits communication, strategic planning, communication audits and focus groups.

Cathleen has tackled communication challenges for more than 100 organizations including Southern California Pipe Trades, Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust, Teamsters Benefit Trust, Boston Consulting Group, GE Aircraft Engines, Advanced Micro Devices, National Semiconductor, Wells Fargo Bank, American Licorice Company and others.

Before starting Communicate Write (more than 30 years ago), Cathleen was an employee communication manager at a major bank in San Francisco. She was also communication practice leader at The Wyatt Company (now Willis Towers Watson) and the Alexander Consulting Group (now Aon) in San Francisco and at Mercer in Cincinnati.

Cathleen is an accredited member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), which places her in the top 10 percent of communicators worldwide. She served as the director of portfolio evaluation on IABC’s accreditation committee. She is an IABC-recommended speaker on their international site.

Cathleen earned IABC Gold Quill awards (for a year-long communication measurement process at Advanced Micro Devices and for benefits communication at The Gap). She also received Silver Quill Awards of Excellence (in the writing and social responsibility categories) for work on behalf of San Diego Social Venture Partners.

She has written the communication chapter of the Health Insurance Answer Book printed by Aspen Publishers.

Born in Michigan, Cathleen taught English and creative writing at the University of Michigan where she earned an M.A.and Ph.D. candidacy in English.
